Liminal spaces

I came for the hairpins I left
scattered on his windowsill
slips of black next to the glass

and pulled my hair off my neck
and hid one,
just one, somewhere he won’t see
like those love notes I tucked into
all his favorite books he hasn’t
opened
dust and years settled between the letters.

  1. I like this. It expresses the beauty of heartbreak and years that gather between the moments you once held onto. I suppose leaving behind your hairpins truly inspired what it is like to let go of someone that mattered..
