Another poem about footwear

You’re a worn-out sock with holes
in the toe.
It isn’t your fault.
The fabric is so thin and old.
I wear you on the sturdy foot
callous and unfeeling
but sometimes
I forget
slip you on softer skin
and blister in all the
places you are empty.
